FreeScan Combo

Portable. Powerful. Fast.

TrueProp now offers a powerful metrology-grade virtual propeller inspection solution for larger propellers with the TrueProp Virtual Bundle and FreeScan Combo handheld scanner.

Designed for high-accuracy measurement and inspection, the FreeScan Combo features advanced laser scanning technology, fast acquisition speeds, 26 laser lines, and a large field of view to efficiently capture detailed propeller geometry.

Take on large-scale inspection projects with confidence. The TrueProp Virtual Bundle with FreeScan Combo can scan propellers up to 160 inches in diameter, providing precise digital models for analysis and reporting. Radial scan lines are automatically extracted to generate ISO 484 measurement data, closely replicating the traditional pitchometer process by creating inspection lines directly on the 3D propeller model.

The result is a fast, accurate, and repeatable workflow for virtual propeller inspection, helping users streamline measurement processes while maintaining industry-standard reporting requirements.

The FreeScan Combo from SHINING 3D has some major benefits:

  • Smaller and lighter handheld unit
  • 26 laser lines (HX uses 14)
  • Higher class laser (much brighter)
  • 50% faster acquisition speed
  • 0.02mm accuracy (HX is 0.04mm)
  • Single line laser mode (ideal for shaft bore)
The scanner’s STL output is perfect for analysis with TrueProp: Virtual Edition. Using the TrueProp Virtual Plugin, even non-watertight STL meshes can be interrogated at the ISO-484 radial positions. This provides us with the pitch, chord lengths, blade outline, and other inspection metrics used for TrueProp’s Class reports.

Computer Requirements

It takes a bit more computer power to 3D scan a propeller! The scanner sends raw data to the PC to be stored and meshed to create the propeller so you need to have enough RAM and a dedicated graphics card (GPU) for the best results!

Recommended Specifications:

  • Windows 10/11, 64-bit
  • Processor – I7-10700 or better equivalent
  • RAM Memory – 32 GB or greater
  • Graphics Card Video – NVIDIA RTX 3060 and higher with at least 6GB video memory
  • Interface – High Speed USB (3.0)
