Experience next-generation wireless metrology with the FreeScan Trak Nova from SHINING 3D. Designed for high-accuracy, large-scale 3D measurement, the FreeScan Trak Nova combines dynamic optical tracking, handheld laser scanning, and integrated photogrammetry into one compact and flexible system.
Large marine propellers present some of the most challenging geometry in 3D scanning. Blade surfaces are highly reflective, edges are thin, and the helical geometry creates difficult line-of-sight conditions. Traditional measurement methods can also become difficult and time-consuming when working with large propellers in drydocks, onboard vessels, repair facilities, or manufacturing environments.
The TrueProp Virtual FreeScan Trak Nova Bundle is specifically designed for large-scale propeller scanning and inspection workflows. The system’s wireless dynamic tracking and large-volume scanning capabilities make it ideal for capturing propellers directly in place — whether in the shipyard, on the vessel, in a drydock, or on the production floor.
Unlike traditional fixed-position metrology systems, the FreeScan Trak Nova allows operators to move freely around large propellers while maintaining accurate real-time tracking and high-speed data capture. Its markerless tracking workflow and expansive scanning volume make it especially effective for large-diameter propellers and other marine structures where portability and flexibility are critical.
The scanner provides fast 3D data capture using multiple laser scanning modes, combining high-speed coverage with detailed geometry acquisition. Blue-laser technology performs exceptionally well on bronze, stainless steel, and aluminum blade surfaces, helping improve scan reliability across challenging marine environments and reflective materials.
The scanner’s STL output integrates directly with TrueProp Virtual Edition workflows. Using the TrueProp Virtual Plugin, scanned propeller meshes can be interrogated at ISO-484 radial positions to extract key inspection and geometry data. This enables analysis of:
By combining FreeScan Trak Nova hardware with TrueProp Virtual Edition, users can move efficiently from physical propeller scanning to detailed digital inspection and analysis.

Blue laser scanning technology performs exceptionally well on reflective bronze, stainless steel, and aluminum marine propeller surfaces.
It takes a bit more computer power to 3D scan a propeller. The scanner sends raw data to the PC to be stored and meshed to create the propeller so you need to have enough RAM and a dedicated graphics card (GPU) for the best results.
